Downtown Hannibal is starting to take on a holiday look. Friday morning, members of the Hannibal Parks and Recreation Department could be seen installing a large light display next to the Hannibal Convention and Visitors Bureau on Mark Twain Avenue.

HLG names 2008 alumni award winners

Hannibal-LaGrange College recognized the annual alumni award winners during Homecoming at the alumni banquet on Friday, Nov. 7. Dr. Benny F. Tucker was awarded the Distinguished Alumnus Award, Larry B. Craig was given the Outstanding Service Award, and Erica M. Henry Baldwin was named the Outstanding Young Alumnus.

2175th Military Police Company sweeps awards

City council to decide fate of local Tour of Missouri bid

If the Tour of Missouri pro bicycle race comes to Northeast Missouri in 2009, its course will first take it through council chambers at Hannibal City Hall. At the Tuesday, Dec. 2, meeting of the city council, members of that body will be asked permission to proceed with the city’s application.

Hundreds of volunteer searchers cheered when they learned 3-year-old Colby Paasch of rural Lincoln County had been found in good condition seven hours after he was reported missing Wednesday afternoon.
 


Parent-teacher conferences up at high school, HCTC

The percentage of parents and teachers meeting this fall to discuss student progress was up at the high school and Hannibal Career and Technical Center. That news was shared during Wednesday night’s meeting of the Hannibal Board of Education.
